Job Description
Job Summary:
The Field Safety Manager will serve as the client's on-site representative for a concrete construction project near Idaho Falls, Idaho. This position is responsible for administering, implementing, and enforcing Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across all field construction activities, with particular focus on Naval Reactor Sites. The role requires a highly independent safety professional with substantial field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to deliver consistent daily reporting to corporate leadership. The Field Safety Manager functions as the on-site safety authority, ensuring full compliance with company policies and regulatory standards while fostering a proactive and engaged safety culture.Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Manage day-to-day field safety operations for US Navy Naval Reactor Projects.
- Conduct daily field safety inspections, audits, and observations.
- Report safety activities, findings, incidents, and metrics to corporate leadership and management daily.
- Lead incident investigations, including fact-finding, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Prepare incident reports, safety alerts, and required documentation.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans, procedures, and permits.
- Ensure compliance with company Safety Management Systems and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Evaluate job hazards, JSAs/JHAs, and work environments with field teams.
- Coordinate and deliver site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and required safety training.
- Serve as the primary safety liaison between the field, contractors, and corporate management.
- Demonstrate independent decision-making and accountability while working in remote or fast-paced field environments.
Qualifications:
Required:
EM-385 USACE
Safety & Health Certification- 3+ Years experience in or
- OSHA 30-hour course completion card within past 3 months
- Bachelor's Degree (Safety related major) and a minimum of two (2) years concrete construction and safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 7-10 years of construction safety experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting heavy equipment and large-scale construction operations.
- Strong field-based safety experience with the ability to work independently.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, and corporate leadership.
- Experience leading incident investigations and safety reporting.
Preferred:
- Naval Reactor Site Experience
- National Nuclear Laboratory Experience (Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, Savannah River, or Oak Ridge)
- Safety certifications such as CHST, COSS, COSM, GSP, or equivalent.
- OSHA 500, 510, 501, or 511 certifications.
