Position SummaryThe Lead Field AV Technician is a hands-on, field-based role responsible for the installation, cabling, and deployment of audio visual and communications systems.
This is NOT a desk-based IT or engineering role.
This position requires a working lead who will:
Be in the field daily working with customersPerform physical installation workLead by example on job sitesSupport and guide junior techniciansThe ideal candidate has a strong background in:
Structured cablingCable terminationAV equipment installationField troubleshootingThis role is critical to ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Installation & Cabling (Primary Focus)Install, route, and secure structured cabling (Cat5/6, fiber, low voltage)Terminate and test cables (RJ45, patch panels, AV connections, etc.)Install AV systems including:
Displays and TVsVideo conferencing systemsSpeakers, microphones, and control systemsRack and stack equipment (AV racks, network racks, etc.)Read and execute installation drawings and site plansEnsure clean, professional installations at client sitesHands-On Field LeadershipLead small crews on job sites while actively performing installation workTrain and support junior technicians on proper installation techniquesEnsure work is completed safely and meets company standardsMaintain productivity and accountability on siteTroubleshooting & System SetupPerform basic troubleshooting of AV and connectivity issuesVerify system functionality after installationSupport final system testing and client handoffProject ExecutionWork closely with operations and project teams to meet timelinesCommunicate progress and issues from the fieldEnsure materials, tools, and equipment are used efficientlyRequired Experience48+ years of hands-on field installation experienceStrong experience with:
Structured cabling (pulling, terminating, testing)AV system installationLow voltage systemsExperience working on construction sites or active job sitesExperience leading or mentoring other technicians in the fieldRequired SkillsAbility to terminate and test cables independentlyAbility to install and mount AV equipment safely and correctlyAbility to read blueprints, diagrams, or scope of work documentsStrong troubleshooting skills in field environmentsReliable, self-starter with strong work ethicComfortable working in fast-paced, changing environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularlyAbility to:
