Job Description

First, A Word About Who We Are — And Who We're Not Looking For Hill Country Rainwater installs rainwater harvesting systems for residential and commercial clients across the Texas Hill Country. We're good at what we do, and we take it seriously. We are a small, high-performance team. That means every person on the crew carries real weight. We don't have room for someone who shows up late, does the minimum, blames others when things go wrong, or needs to be managed into caring about quality. If that sounds blunt, good — we'd rather be honest upfront than waste your time or ours. If, on the other hand, you're someone who takes pride in your work, owns your mistakes, communicates clearly, and genuinely wants to be part of a team that executes at a high level — keep reading. What We Do We design and install complete rainwater harvesting systems — excavation, drainage infrastructure, PVC/PEX pressure plumbing, water pumps, storage tanks, and electronic water control systems. Projects range from residential to commercial. The Texas Hill Country terrain is rocky and demanding. The work is physical, varied, and skilled. The Role You'll be in the field executing jobsite work alongside a small crew. That includes operating heavy equipment, running plumbing, and taking active ownership of your portion of every project from setup to cleanup. We are a digitally oriented company — scheduling, time tracking, job photos, and communication all run through smartphone-based tools. Comfort with technology is not optional. What We Require Demonstrated experience operating a wheeled skid steer and/or mini excavator Experience with — or a proven aptitude for — drainage and pressure plumbing (PVC, PEX) Comfortable pulling and maneuvering a 20-foot trailer Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Smartphone proficiency and genuine willingness to use digital tools daily Available Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shifts, with flexibility for seasonal demand and occasional on-call emergency coverage Strongly Preferred Experience operating a Vermeer 550x rock saw or comparable rock-cutting/trenching equipment — our terrain makes this a meaningful advantage Background in plumbing, irrigation, civil drainage, or site utilities Our Values — Described Honestly We list four: Professionalism, Teamwork, Trust, and Tenacity. Here's what those actually mean on the job: Professionalism means you show up on time, communicate proactively when something changes, treat clients and coworkers with consistent respect, and hold yourself to a standard whether or not anyone is watching. It means your truck is clean, your work area is organized, and you represent the company the same way on day 400 as you did on day 1. Teamwork means the job gets done — not your part of the job. If a crewmate is behind, you help. If something wasn't your fault but it's your problem, you solve it. Ego and turf-protecting have no place here. Trust means you do what you say. If you commit to a task, it gets done. If something goes sideways, you say so immediately — not after it becomes someone else's problem. We build trust with clients through transparency and quality, and we expect the same internally. Tenacity means you don't quit when it gets hard, hot, or complicated. Hill Country terrain, unexpected site conditions, and problem jobs are part of this work. We adapt, we push through, and we finish what we start. If you read that and thought "that's how I already operate" — we want to meet you. If you read that and thought "that sounds exhausting" — this probably isn't the right fit, and that's okay. Compensation & Benefits $25-$30/hr depending on experience Company truck + all tools provided
Paid Time Off:
6 paid holidays + accrued vacation Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel over 40 miles/day Profit-sharing bonus tied to crew productivity Real advancement opportunities as the company grows Non-smoking work environment In-person, field-based position — not remote How to Apply Apply via email. All applicants will receive an acknowledgment upon receipt. Allow approximately one week before interview scheduling. If you have not heard from us within 10 days, we have likely moved forward — but if you believe that's an error, please follow up directly. We review applications as they come in and may close this posting before the listed end date if the right candidate is found.
One question before you apply:
Tell us in 2-3 sentences about a time something went wrong on a job — something that was at least partially your fault — and what you did about it. No wrong answers here, but no answer is a wrong answer.
Pay:
