Job Title:
Finance Manager Job Description The Finance Manager serves as a key financial business partner, using strong business acumen to perform detailed financial analysis, communicate clear insights, and support or lead problem-solving initiatives that drive business results. This role combines expertise in accounting and financial planning and analysis to help shape strategic direction, support day-to-day financial operations, and guide informed decision-making across the organization. The Finance Manager delivers accurate and timely financial reports, supports the financial close process, and assists with risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement of financial controls and processes. Responsibilities + Partner closely with the CFO to manage and, when needed, lead the day-to-day business operations of the finance department, including providing coverage for team members, resolving short-term issues, addressing immediate business needs, and overseeing KPI reporting. + Coordinate and manage interactions with external partners and stakeholders related to finance and business operations. + Own the integration, configuration, and ongoing operation of Microsoft Power BI to develop and deliver complex financial models and analytics covering commissions, customer profitability, direct-to-consumer (D2C) revenue, margin analysis, and other key business areas. + Connect point-of-sale (POS) data to customer revenue and other metrics to support comprehensive profitability and performance analysis. + Create, collect, prepare, analyze, and report financial information with a focus on gross margin, pricing, standard costs, and other key internal metrics. + Develop analytics that identify trends and highlight opportunities by customer, product, or item to support targeted business strategies. + Provide financial reporting and analysis to support annual strategic planning and lead the annual budgeting process. + Summarize the profit and loss statement (P&L) based on inputs from all functional departments and develop the Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements, updating the ERP system accordingly. + Continuously improve the budgeting process through manager education, variance analysis, and effective utilization of the ERP system. + Generate ad-hoc financial reports to support customer line reviews, focusing on revenue, margin, and POS data. + Provide year-over-year analysis on revenue, margin, and customer programs to support data-driven decisions and customer negotiations. + Present financial reports, analyses, and findings to leadership at various levels of the organization in both verbal and written formats. + Translate complex data into clear, easy-to-understand insights that enable accountable stakeholders to take action and make informed, data-driven decisions. + Prepare, analyze, and audit monthly commission payments for internal sales teams and external manufacturer representatives, ensuring accuracy of customer data, commission rates, territories or customer assignments, and sales manager alignment. + Support the month-end close process by preparing and recording General Ledger entries, performing account reconciliations, and managing assigned accruals. + Prepare year-end closing entries and support year-end financial processes as needed. + Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve best-in-class financial controls and processes within the finance function. + Audit departmental SOPs and support external audit firm testing of financial and business procedures. + Develop, implement, and test solutions to address external audit findings related to financial and business SOPs. + Oversee the annual cost roll and inventory valuation, ensuring accurate maintenance of material standards. + Support Operations by providing analysis on purchase price variance (PPV) and inventory transactions, including scrap, damage, loss, and other adjustments. + Collaborate with external accounting firms, auditors, tax advisors, insurance providers, and banking partners to support compliance and business objectives. + Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance, drive accountability, and deliver measurable results. + Contribute to policy development and deployment by using data and analysis to influence decisions and drive process improvements. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university. + 7-10 years of experience in accounting and financial roles with progressively increasing responsibilities. + Strong experience in both accounting and financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including analytics, modeling, and reporting. + Proven experience performing Staff Accountant responsibilities such as month-end close, reconciliations, auditing, controllership, and compliance. + Demonstrated ability to generate, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve best-in-class financial controls and processes. + Proven experience working with external firms and partnerships, including external accounting and audit firms, tax advisors, insurance partners, and banking institutions. + Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel, including pivot tables, data analytics, and dashboard creation. + Proven expertise with Microsoft Power BI, including integration, modeling, and development of dashboards and reports. + Experience working with ERP systems, with specific familiarity with Acumatica ERP software. + Familiarity with Velixo reporting or other Excel-based financial tools such as Hyperion or Khalix. + Ability to present complex financial data in clear written, narrative, and visual formats for non-financial audiences. + Demonstrated ability to influence others using data and analysis, particularly in policy development and implementation. + Experience managing and delivering results using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). + Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and profit and loss (P&L) management. + Experience with audit processes and supporting external audit testing of financial and business controls. + Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) across multiple channels, including national accounts, large box retailers, direct-to-consumer (D2C), independent dealers, and online channels. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Master's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred. + CPA or CMA designation is a plus. + Experience leading or significantly contributing to annual strategic planning and budgeting processes. + Experience summarizing P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements and updating ERP systems with budget and forecast data. + Experience developing and delivering KPI dashboards and management reports using tools such as Power BI and Excel. + Experience preparing and auditing commission calculations for internal and external sales teams. + Experience with inventory valuation, standard costing, and annual cost roll processes. + Experience analyzing purchase price variance (PPV) and inventory transactions, including scrap, damage, and loss. + Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for various levels of leadership. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead or support cross-functional initiatives to improve financial performance and processes. Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position, working approximately 40 hours per week. The role operates in a professional office environment that relies heavily on modern financial systems and tools, including Acumatica ERP, Microsoft Power BI, Excel-based reporting tools, and other analytics platforms. The Finance Manager collaborates closely with leadership, finance team members, operations, and external partners such as auditors, banks, and insurance providers.
