Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is vital in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance with accounting standards, and ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, familiarity with various accounting software, and a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts and Tribal corporations. Responsibilities Prepare, analyze, and record journal entries in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all accounts. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections. Assist with payroll management using systems such as ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing. Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and audit preparations. Utilize various financial software platforms for data entry and reporting. Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies or variances and recommend corrective actions. Support budgeting activities and financial forecasting efforts through detailed data analysis. Contribute to non-profit or governmental accounting functions if applicable. Maintain comprehensive documentation of financial transactions and account reconciliations for audit purposes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate or Tribal accounting roles with exposure to technical accounting practices. Proficiency with accounting software Strong understanding of GAAP principles and governmental accounting standards if applicable. Experience with payroll systems is highly desireable Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures. Excellent mathematical skills with high accuracy in data entry and account analysis. Ability to interpret financial data clearly and communicate findings effectively across teams.
