Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a contract assignment in Auburn, Maine. This position focuses on day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, general ledger activity, payment follow-up, and client account support. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling varied accounting tasks, working in QuickBooks Desktop, and assisting with payroll-related processes. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can step in quickly and manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger records.
  • Manage a range of ad hoc accounting assignments and provide support for routine financial activities.
  • Review client account balances, follow up on outstanding amounts, and help drive collections efforts.
  • Respond to account and notice-related issues by researching details and coordinating appropriate payment recovery actions.
  • Process accounting transactions within QuickBooks Desktop and maintain organized financial documentation.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting activities using the designated payroll system.
  • Support overall accounting accuracy by identifying issues, correcting variances, and communicating updates as needed.
