Job Summary Stoic is seeking a full-time Portfolio Accountant to oversee property-level accounting for a portfolio of assets located across the Southeast. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated professional who will work closely with Asset Management, Finance, and external property managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strong controls, and strategic insights at the asset level. Responsibilities Maintain full-cycle accounting for assigned real estate portfolio, including timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes. Prepare and review monthly investor reporting packages, including financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules. Oversee and manage property-level accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare and record journal entries, including standard, recurring, reversing, adjusting, reclassing, prepaid rent, and accrual entries. Review and approve accounts receivable activity, including tenant billings, billing adjustments, and security deposit refunds. Prepare and calculate annual CAM and escalation reconciliations, including related tenant billing adjustments. Prepare supplemental Excel or Word reporting schedules, including (but not limited to) depreciation, amortization, security deposits, loan activity and balance sheet support. Review leases and related lease abstracts to ensure accurate accounting treatment. Assist with cash distributions, funding requests, and capital calls, as needed. Partner with asset managers and third-party property managers to resolve accounting issues or discrepancies. Prepare and process monthly fees, including management fees, asset management fees, and construction or tenant improvement fees. Assist with annual property budgets and periodic forecasts. Participate in system conversion or enhancements, including user acceptance testing, providing feedback, and training staff on new systems or processes, as needed. Process and complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance, Director of Asset Management, clients, or property managers. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1-3 years' experience in accounting, preferably in commercial real estate. Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and property management or CRM systems (Appfolio, Yardi, MRI, Apto, etc. helpful). Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively. Proactive problem-solver with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
