You'll handle day-to-day prep in CCH Axcess (or similar), tie out workpapers, and help keep busy season smooth and on-time. Responsibilities Prepare and review federal and state returns: 1040, 1065, 1120S , plus select 1120/990 as assigned. Build and maintain complete workpaper binders (trial balance, tie-outs, tickmarks, lead sheets). Handle book-to-tax reconciliations, fixed assets/ Form 4562 , 199A , 4797 , 6252 , state apportionment. Draft K-1s , basis worksheets, and partner/shareholder schedules. Research targeted issues (SALT, Alabama returns, nexus, depreciation lives) with firm resources. Support extensions, estimates, e-file submissions, and notice responses. Collaborate with Accounting Services on year-end close → tax readiness . Communicate status, issues, and information requests proactively. Qualifications 3-5 years in public tax (or strong internship equivalent) with hands-on prep experience. Proficiency in CCH Axcess or UltraTax/ProSeries/Lacerte, and solid Excel/Google Sheets skills. Comfort reading trial balances, adjusting journal entries, and working from client QBO/QBD files. Accuracy, organization, and deadline ownership—especially January through April. Professional communication with clients and internal teams.
