First Southern Bank is looking for a Staff Accountant I to join our Accounting team. The Staff Accountant's responsibilities include processing all aspects of accounts payable, recording and reconciling GL account activity, analyzing financial data, and preparing reports for management. The chosen candidate will assist the Controller and accounting team as needed and respond to information requests by management.
Responsibilities:
Ensure timely processing and payment of Accounts Payable invoices and expense reimbursements Record, reconcile, resolve GL account activity Monitor daily cash position and maintain daily log Track secondary market loans Oversee vendor maintenance including W-9 collection and processing year end 1099s Assist with filing monthly sales & use tax Support in the preparation of reports for Management & Board, financial statements, regulatory reports, and internal & external audit engagements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) or other business-related field with strong banking experience 0-2+ years of accounting experience (preferred) Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks and/or other accounting software Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills Ability to prioritize multiple demands, be well organized with strong attention to detail Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals Friendly, courteous, and professional disposition Team player with desire to promote a collaborative work environment
