ABOUT THE ROLE
The Staff Accountantmanages the AIDBF's operational and investment portfolios to ensure both immediate liquidity and long-term fiscal stability. This position oversees operational accounts to meet short-term obligations—including budgeted expenses and ongoing AIDB initiatives—while serving as the primary depository for all incoming funds. Additionally, the role manages investment accounts focused on long-term growth for restricted funds and surplus capital. You will be responsible for providing critical financial reporting and analysis to the AIDBF Board, Executive Director, and President.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Five years professional experience in accounting or auditing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master of Accounting.
  • Professional accounting certification, including CPA, CMA, or CGA.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and/or auditing.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Reporting
    Ledger & Reporting Excellence:
    Manage and maintain the recording and recognition of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting of AIDB Foundation activities, including preparing and distributing interim reports and GAAP statements.
      Asset & Contract Tracking:
      Manage inventory, accounts receivable/payable, and specialized contract accounting activities.
        Specialized Programs:
        Develop Planned Giving Actuarial Reports, monitor annuity programs, manage cash flow payments, and report diligently on endowment earnings, allocations, and growth.
          Reconciliations & Entries:
          Prepare and review month-end general ledger account reconciliations and execute general journal entries as required. Internal Coordination & Department Support
            Inter-Departmental Collaboration:
            Partner with all units within AIDB to ensure a solid understanding of Foundation policies regarding requisitions and general accounting.
              Quarterly Reporting:
              Deliver comprehensive quarterly fiscal reports to individual units to maintain regular awareness of spending and account balances.
                Stewardship & Awards:
                Manage student scholarships and faculty awards programs, and prepare annual stewardship reports for endowment stakeholders each February/March.
                  OIA Event Support:
                  Provide collaborative operational support for all Office of Institutional Advancement special events. Auditing, Compliance & Operations
                    Grant & Budget Administration:
                    Coordinate restricted grants and program allocations for budgeting, amend contracts from private, state, or federal sources, and assist with the Foundation's annual operating budget.
                      Transaction Controls:
                      Process accounts payable, receive and post requisition requests, and audit/approve invoices and credit memos.
                        Audit Readiness:
                        Conduct internal audits of accounts payable and cash funds for purchasing compliance, and assist external auditors with annual audit compilations.
                          Strategic Oversight:
                          Supervise all banking activities and lead the selection process for external auditors and investment advisors.
                            Executive Presentations:
                            Present transparent financial statements, budgets, and plans to the Executive Director, Foundation Treasurer, Board of Directors, and the AIDB Board of Trustees.

                              Technical Proficiency:
                              Advanced skill in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), computer technologies, investment database spreadsheets, and managing massive data sets.
