As a Senior Accountant, you must be self-motivated and ambitious. You must also be organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively balance speed and accuracy. It is also important that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to get along well with coworkers. A senior accountant has all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the staff accountant position, which is the foundation for accountants. Additionally, senior accountant duties include: Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant Performs and documents accounting services to include recording journal entries, general ledgers, reconcile other general ledger accounts as necessary; prepare all types of financial statements. Do this with minimum supervision. Apply basic accounting knowledge to more complex and multiple projects Improve technical skills through CPE, personal commitment, and on-the-job training Follow directions, complete tasks, and review points with minimal supervision in a timely manner Read current developments, pronouncements, and research technical issues Identify problem areas and client issues and propose solutions to managers and partners Be proficient in use of computers and become proficient with firm utilized software Effectively wrap-up engagement Identify value added suggestions for client utilization Additional duties of a
Senior Accountant:
Further develops positive relationships with clients by fulfilling their needs timely and with quality Communicates effectively within team and with clients in a precise, professional, and timely manner Excels in handling unexpected client requests, events, and prioritizing workload Assists with staff development to promote efficiency on engagements Demonstrates detailed understanding of payroll, payroll taxes, and the implications on payroll tax forms Demonstrates strong understanding of sales tax filings and reporting Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of professional standards/practices Efficiently uses a variety of accounting software for payroll, bookkeeping, fixed asset management and able to train others on said software Identify areas of technical issues, processes and problems and proposes solutions or alternatives in various industries and entity types Thoroughly review work of the staff and provided meaningful review comments to develop staff Other Attributes, Education, Skills & Abilities Innovation Anticipate and solve problems with original and tailored solutions Forward thinking and big picture focused Ownership Self-driven and strives to get the job done in a timely manner without passing the buck Total responsibility of knowledge on technical matters Provide quality work Teamwork Think of others, humble, loyal and puts the firm first Collaborate within the teams Develop relationships with peers and attend firm events Communication Effectively exchange meaningful information and ideas on a timely basis with tact and open minds by listening first and asking questions second Communicate effectively and professionally Keep immediate supervisor informed Other knowledge, skills, and abilities Understands and maintains the confidentiality of all firm and client information. Education:
Bachelor of accounting degree Consideration towards becoming a Certified Public Accountant within 1 year of employment
Experience:
2-3 years of public accounting experience

Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) Accounting CS, Thomson Reuters, Checkpoint, Engagement, Adobe, QuickBooks
