Gilbert, AZ Job Details Full-time $115,000 - $140,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Teamwork Research Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Time management Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our accounting practices. This pivotal role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while collaborating closely with project teams to support construction management and project execution. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction accounting, project management software, and financial analysis to drive operational excellence and strategic growth. Duties Perform bank and investment reconciliations Analyze various general ledger accounts and oversee the financial activities of the company Review credit card cost allocations monthly and provide recommendations for cost savings Coordinate the timely close of monthly books, preparing accurate financial statements Review corporate-owned equipment and vehicle entries, maintain fixed asset schedules Prepare corporate budgets, ensuring appropriate expenses are capitalized and proper authorization is obtained under corporate policies Prepare personal property tax returns as required Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns to governmental authorities Research and analyze state/city licensing and tax requirements as needed, provide advice to staff on possible streamlining processes Perform duties of a project accountant in the entire lifecycle, setting up budgets, processing change orders and invoices, preparing owner pay request packages, corresponding with internal and external team members, and preparing and/or reviewing job cost and revenue projections for various projects Cross-train in all accounting positions to act as back-up during PTO Prepare financial statement packages for management as required, present finding in a comprehensive manner Act as liason with external auditors, timely providing thorough reponses and appropriate documentation Provide guidance and training to team members in relevent matters Assist the Director with special projects as required i.e. business valuations, reasonable compensation analysis, software conversions, and new entity formation Assist with human resources as needed Review weekly payroll submission and all payroll tax returns prepared by others, ensuring regulatory compliance Attend regular accounting meetings as well as other meetings as needed Other duties as assigned Skills Extensive experience with construction accounting management software Vista/Viewpoint Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects effectively. Exceptional analytical skills for financial analysis, cost control, and risk assessment. Effective communication skills for coordinating across teams and presenting complex information clearly.
