Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in Berkeley, California. This is a Contract to permanent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounts payable and general ledger coding. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial processes and maintaining smooth operations within our accounting department.
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable invoices, employee reimbursements, and vendor payments with a high level of accuracy.
- Review and upload invoices into the accounting system while ensuring proper general ledger coding.
- Utilize Sage and other relevant software tools to manage financial transactions effectively.
- Maintain electronic filing systems such as Egnyte for organized and accessible financial documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address payment inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with tracking and reporting 1099 forms in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform journal entries and reconcile accounts as part of month-end financial processes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate tax and sales tax regulations during processing.
- Support the preparation and submission of corporate tax returns as needed. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts payable with exceptional attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Tipalti or similar third-party payment systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency in using Sage accounting software or equivalent.
- Knowledge of electronic file systems like Egnyte.
- Experience with 1099 reporting processes.
- Solid understanding of general ledger coding and journal entries.
- Background in corporate and sales tax compliance.
