The Associate Director of Accounting oversees the accounting, accounts receivable and sales order management operations for the bakery division and is responsible for accurate financial reporting, compliance, timely invoicing and cash collection, as well as the support of strategic decision-making. Data Investigator:
you enjoy reviewing and analyzing reports and data, and you're not satisfied until you resolve identified issues. Here's more of what you'll get to do: Oversee daily accounting, accounts receivable (AR) and sales order management operations. Manage and develop a team of four individuals, fostering a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement and engagement. Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes, including account analysis, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of financial statements. Maintain effective internal controls to ensure transactions follow Company policies and are properly reflected on the financial statements. Collaborate with the corporate accounting team on financial close processes, 10-Q/10-K supporting documents and accounting issues. Prepare monthly financial package, including variance analysis, business activity reports, performance metrics and support schedules. Develop and document internal controls and SOX narratives, accounting policies and standard operating procedures. Coordinate with internal auditors and corporate accounting in support of the SOX and financial audits. Provide strategic and operational leadership over the end‑to‑end accounts receivable, credit, and collections function. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a sales orders support department, leading a team entering customer orders. Ensure high-quality customer interactions, maintaining customer satisfaction by resolving complaints and setting service standards. Lead as the accounting owner of the ERP system functions including maintenance of financial modules of GL and AR. Consolidate and participate in the development of budgets and financial forecasts to align with objectives and KPIs. Seek process improvements in routine tasks, schedules and close processes. Complete ad hoc analysis and projects, as needed.
What we require:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. CPA certification. Public accounting audit experience or in house experience at a publicly traded company with direct, hands on responsibility for coordinating and supporting external financial and SOX audits. Minimum of 10 years of general accounting experience including sound knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls. Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with a drive to develop and mentor staff at all levels. Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple workstreams, assess priorities and consistently achieve deadlines Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
