Job Description

Hygiena provides rapid microbiology diagnostic tests and solutions for mission-critical, time-sensitive processes around the world. With rapid growth comes opportunity. We are looking for an Accounting Intern to join our team in Camarillo! This is a temporary, ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain practical exposure to corporate finance and accounting operations. The intern will support the accounting team across a variety of day-to-day functions, with an emphasis on accounts receivable and collections support. No prior accounting experience is required - we are looking for someone eager to learn, organized, and comfortable communicating with both internal teams and external customers.
Responsibilities:
Reviews open accounts for collection and past due invoices to reduce overall receivables. Makes outbound collection calls in a professional manner, maintaining and improving customer relations. Mails correspondence to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts. Identifies root cause issues attributing to account delinquency and discussing with management team to improve processes and timely collection. Assist the accounting team with reviewing open accounts and supporting accounts receivable and collections activities. Help prepare and send routine customer correspondence regarding outstanding or past-due invoices. Support outbound follow-up communications with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Assist in identifying and documenting account discrepancies or recurring issues, and share observations with the team to help improve processes. Maintain accurate and organized records, files, and spreadsheets. Perform general administrative and data-entry tasks to support the broader finance team. Participate in special projects and process-improvement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a college degree; a focus in business, finance, or a related field is helpful but not requires. Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills, with a professional and approachable communication style. Strong attention to detail and highly organized. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe Acrobat a plus. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Salary Range (applicable to California): $25.00 - 28.00 per hour
