ABOUT THE POSITION
As Controller you will oversee and ensure all accounting activities run efficiently and accurately. Primary Responsibilities Oversee and manage accounting staff (1-2 people) and related functions (WIP, Job Cost, A/R, A/P, Payroll) Perform AR related tasks including portal management Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points Secondary Responsibilities Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close out processes Help team as needed to insure coverage Work with outside consultants for tax, CPA and other disciplines Support Project Teams Lead Project Kickoffs, making sure that all the necessary tasks have been completed before a project is started Manage Project Closeouts Collect and Process Client Surveys Collaboration Participate in and help with weekly and monthly company-wide meetings Work together with Project Managers to avoid and resolve client issues and drive successful on time completion of projects Work with staff to continuously improve our accounting practices and processes
ABOUT YOU
You will need to have Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in commercial construction or project-based accounting, and even better with knowledge of construction partner portals like Ariba, Coupa, GCPay, Amazon Payee Central, Vendor Cafe, Paymode X, Tesla Portal, Oracle, GRMS, Avetta Connect, Highwire and Bill.com Knowledge of construction contracts, insurance compliance, lien laws, AIA billing, pay applications, and retention Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail — catch errors before they reach the Project Managers or Subcontractors Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities across multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation) Strong critical thinking and a willingness to effectively create solutions to difficult situations A strong work ethic, high integrity, relentless drive and enthusiasm, and a desire for long-term employment Reliability and regular on-time attendance, and professional and appropriate demeanor and appearance Confidence using common software and communication tools and an ability to quickly learn and adapt A strong desire to use your knowledge and skills to improve COBE Positive Energy and a Great Attitude
