Full-time About MC Electric MC Electric is a full-service, turnkey construction company based in Chino, CA. Since 2004, we've built our reputation on integrity, craftsmanship, and strong teamwork. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and highly reliable Construction Accountant/Controller to join our internal team and play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly. This position supports MC Electric as well as additional owner‑affiliated businesses. You'll collaborate daily with company owners, executives, and operations leaders in a fast-paced, supportive environment—helping ensure accurate financial reporting, strong job-cost tracking, and data-driven decision making. What You'll Do You'll be the go-to accounting expert for the organization, managing end-to-end bookkeeping and construction accounting functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Reporting Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections Post journal entries, including accruals, intercompany transactions, and adjustments Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts Assist with month-end close and year-end tax preparation in collaboration with the CPA Construction Accounting & Job Costing Perform detailed job costing and cost tracking Maintain operational financial trackers and dashboards Partner with operations leadership to align financial performance with project progress Issue preliminary notices and track lien releases Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Handle full-cycle A/P and A/R, including billing, vendor payments, and collections Maintain vendor files and compliance documentation Payroll Support Review payroll for accuracy Ensure certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance (preferred experience) General Support Provide bookkeeping support for owner-affiliated entities Assist with general office duties as needed Contribute to a collaborative, team-centered office culture What We're Looking For Qualifications Degree in Accounting or Finance required 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (construction strongly preferred) Candidates with less experience but strong academic skills will be considered Must have construction accounting and job-costing experience Proficient in GAAP and accrual accounting Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, cash flow modeling) Familiarity with prevailing wage and certified payroll (preferred) Exceptional attention to detail and organization Team player comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site environment Must pass a background check and drug test Position Details Full-time, Monday-Friday On-site only (Chino, CA) Reports directly to ownership and the executive team Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate: $80,000 - $100,000 annually (Depending On Experience) 401(k) with employer match Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and holidays Company-paid life insurance Opportunities for career development and long-term growth Supportive and collaborative team environment Work Location On-site in Chino, CA 91710 (Required)
