Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Downey, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting accurate reporting. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct general ledger maintenance, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Review and verify financial records and transactions to maintain compliance with regulations.
- Assist in budgeting processes, including preparation, tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local accounting regulations.
- Provide documentation and support during audits to facilitate smooth processes.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and improve financial accuracy.
- Utilize accounting systems and Excel to achieve efficient and effective financial management.
- Monitor compliance with public sector financial practices and reporting requirements. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 24 semester units in Accounting.
- Proven experience in government agencies or K-12 educational environments, such as school districts or county offices of education.
- Strong background in general accounting functions, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and public sector budgeting systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software tools.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities to interact effectively with stakeholders.
