Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Long-term Contract opportunity based in Pauma Valley, California. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys analyzing financial activity, resolving coding issues, and contributing to month-end close work through strong Excel and general accounting skills. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, experience working in larger organizational environments, and the ability to manage both recurring tasks and project-based assignments with accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records across the general ledger.
• Review financial transactions for coding errors and complete reclassifications to ensure entries are properly recorded.
• Account for prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets in accordance with established accounting practices.
• Perform reconciliations by extracting data from accounting systems into Excel, analyzing variances, and updating records as needed.
• Support month-end close activities through spreadsheet-based analysis, reporting, and account review.
• Contribute to fund-related accounting work when applicable, including tracking and organizing financial activity by funding source.
• Use accounting platforms such as Sage Intacct and Amplifund to research transactions, validate data, and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects that require analysis, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail.
