Construction Project Accountant

Position Summary:

The Project Accountant is responsible for the financial setup, integrity, and compliance of projects within the Business Unit. This role ensures accurate project bookings, revenue recognition, contract alignment, and adherence to internal controls while partnering closely with Operations teams to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the entering of new projects and change orders into local CRM and ERP systems, including estimates and schedule of values
• Perform quality controls and validations to ensure proper account set up and maintenance, including rejection of improper booking packages
• Process changes in estimates for active projects accurately and on time in the ERP system
• Process notices to owners including lien filings, lien releases, and work with Solutions Coordinator as needed (i.e. warranty letters)
• Close out projects in ERP system upon completion
• Assist with preparation and review of WIP analysis after each payroll cycle
• Review and validate monthly charges to active projects and resolve discrepancies
• Validate time charged to jobs from weekly timesheets
• Analyze project performance and make recommendations to improve project profitability and cash flow
• Assist in month end close; other special projects as needed
• Complete special department projects as directed

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2+ years of project accounting or construction accounting experience preferred
• Experience in electrical contracting, construction, or service-based industries preferred Technical Skills
• Experience with ERP systems (Spectrum or Vista preferred)
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (POC preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Core Competencies
• High attention to detail
• Strong organizational & time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach

Pay:

$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
