Job Summary The Property Accountant, under general direction of the Accounting Manager and CFO, is responsible for accounting functions related to commercial and residential real estate properties and corporate entities. The Property Accountant will have daily interaction with property managers and vendors. The Property Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager of the Company and will work with a team of approximately four (4) employees who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. The position prefers a broad background property management accounting, enabling the successful candidate to address different tasks/issues as they arise. Periodic assignments will include other projects as may be assigned by senior management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year‐end financial statements/reporting packages.
  • Perform a wide variety of accounting analyses.
  • Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger.
  • Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits.
  • Prepare common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations.
  • Monitor daily cash balances.
  • Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Assist management with special projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Follow "Best Practices" accounting policy and procedures guidance and direction.
  • Coordinate requests on an "as needed" basis.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time-to-time.
Working Conditions:
Primarily in a casual office environment. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected during seasonal high demand periods, i.e., tax season.
Education/Skill Requirement:
  • History of working as a team member in preparing timely financial statements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Exhibit a high level of commitment to service.
  • Possess an understanding of accounting methods and financial terms and principles.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach.
  • Display good organizational skills, attention to detail, and openness to new ideas and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of CAM/COP, QuickBooks and Real Page software a plus.
  • 2+ years' experience, Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance a plus.
  • Prior experience preferred.
Compensation:

Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
