In this vital role, you will oversee a broad range of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across our financial operations. Your expertise will support the organization's financial health by managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Duties Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft. Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements. Conduct account reconciliations including bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to verify data integrity. Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records. Perform journal entries, accrual accounting procedures, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure precise financial data. Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and documentation. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements such as tax filings and securities law compliance. Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices, fostering professional development within the department. Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits to uphold transparency and accuracy in financial reporting. Experience Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting roles with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts. Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft; experience with financial software like Quicken is a plus. Familiarity with SOX compliance, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), non-profit accounting practices, and regulatory reporting frameworks. Strong knowledge of technical accounting standards including securities law, Wills, Trusts & Estate Law, and private equity considerations is preferred. Experience handling complex account reconciliation processes including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation. Ability to interpret financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly through detailed report writing. Skilled in cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management techniques. Prior experience in public accounting or internal auditing is advantageous. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to mentor team members while managing multiple priorities effectively.
