Full-Time About Us InPhenix is a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced optoelectronic devices, specializing in premium laser chips, Superluminescent Diodes (SLEDs), and Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs). Driven by innovation and precision engineering, we design and fabricate high-performance components that power medical imaging (OCT), telecom, and defense systems worldwide. We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team in Livermore. In this role, you will be the financial backbone of our manufacturing operations, bridging the gap between production data and financial strategy to optimize our inventory and cost structures.
Key Responsibilities Inventory & Variance Analysis:
Oversee standard costing systems, track inventory valuations, and analyze manufacturing variances (material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption).
Margin & Profitability Tracking:
Review and analyze product-by-product margins to provide actionable insights to executive leadership on profitability trends.
Process Costing:
Monitor and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and labor/overhead routing structures to ensure accurate product costing.
Month-End Closure:
Reconcile inventory accounts, prepare cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) journal entries, and assist in the timely completion of monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner directly with the operations, engineering, and fab management teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and streamline manufacturing workflows.
Audit & Internal Controls:
Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring robust control processes for inventory cycle counts and physical audits.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
3-5+ years of accounting experience, specifically within a manufacturing environment (semiconductor, electronics, or hardware fabrication experience is highly preferred).
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex data modeling).
Analytical Mindset:
Exceptional eye for detail with the ability to interpret complex production data and translate it into clear financial impacts.
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with both engineering personnel and corporate leadership.
