About the Opportunity Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Accountant II to support the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Bond Program. This position plays a critical role in processing invoices, monitoring financial activity, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with bond funding requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with invoice processing, accounts payable functions, and financial reporting. What You'll Do - Your Mission Review Bond Program invoices and encumbrances and process them in accordance with established accounting procedures. Assist the Finance and Accounting team with analysis of ongoing financial activity related to the Bond Program. Identify invoice discrepancies and inconsistencies and work to resolve them promptly. Ensure invoice and encumbrance entries within PMIS (Proliance) are accurate and supported by proper documentation. Resolve invoice and encumbrance integration issues between Proliance and Costpoint systems. Evaluate payment requests for compliance with bond funding requirements. Reconcile financial accounts and escrow bank statements. Prepare and process journal entries, debit memos, and credit memos. Assist in identifying recurring financial errors and recommend process improvements to reduce future discrepancies. Develop financial reports and assist with revisions to forms and processes that improve transparency into Bond Program expenditures. Communicate with construction contractors, consultants, and professional service vendors regarding invoice and payment matters. Coordinate with project teams, campuses, and outside stakeholders regarding commitments, expenditures, and financial tracking. Work collaboratively with internal departments to resolve invoice payment issues and obtain required approvals. Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance and Accounting Manager.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in invoice processing, accounts payable, project accounting, or a related accounting function. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Ability to create, analyze, and interpret financial reports. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and recommend corrective actions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced professional environment. Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience supporting construction projects, capital improvement programs, bond-funded programs, educational facilities, or public agencies. Experience working with PMIS systems such as Proliance and/or ERP systems such as Costpoint. Knowledge of project accounting, accounts payable controls, reconciliations, encumbrance tracking, and financial reporting processes. Why Join Us?
