Senior Corporate GL Accountant

Senior Accountant (Contract-to-Hire) Onsite in Moraga, CA Overview This role is open due to an immediate need for additional accounting support while the organization continues efforts to hire a full?time employee. To accelerate onboarding and maintain continuity, the team is seeking a contract?to?hire Senior Accountant who can step in quickly and manage critical accounting operations. The position will focus on general ledger management, close activities, reconciliations, and process improvement within a higher?education - focused environment. Must-Have Qualifications Experience in nonprofit, higher education, or public accounting (including candidates directly out of public accounting). Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles. Hands-on experience with Colleague or similar ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Background that ensures experience with:

General Ledger (GL) Operational and Corporate Accounting Month-end and year-end Close Activities Manual or semi?manual accounting environments Nice to have: Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar small-business accounting systems. Nice-to-Haves Higher Education accounting experience (e.g., Grants Accounting). Exposure to or capability in technical accounting topics.
