  • Full-time Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (MVCFS) provides individualized treatment for troubled youth and teens, ages 10-21 in residential treatment in Nevada City and Sacramento, and TBS services throughout the Bay area.
Our Sacramento campuses each sit on several acres with opportunities for sports, greenhouse/gardening, swimming, biking, hiking, and working with animals. This position can work out of the Sacramento or Nevada City office, but if in Sacramento, would need to be able to come to the ranch as needed. Probably only a few days per month Job Summary Energize your career as a Staff Accountant, where you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization's financial health. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to engage in comprehensive accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and regulatory reporting. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. Your expertise will help drive sound financial decision-making and contribute to the organization's growth and success.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data Assist in the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement Assist in the financial management of the organization by monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities Demonstrate strong financial acumen and understanding of accounting principles Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly updates. Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles combined with practical experience in corporate or nonprofit accounting environments. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (or equivalent experience) Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data Complete knowledge of GAAP Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment Strong mathematical, accounting, and analytical skills, with demonstrated critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner Process-oriented with strong time management skills Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office skills and experience with accounting software (MS experience is a plus) Proficient in Excel
  • able to create and maintain complex spreadsheets and customize as needed.
Experience with cost allocation methodologies Non profit and/or government contract experience preferred. Medi-cal cost report experience preferred.
