Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a real estate and property management organization in Ontario, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing recurring reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and contributing to a timely month-end close. The role requires strong knowledge of property management accounting, sound understanding of debits, credits, and accruals, and the ability to work accurately across multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage full-cycle accounting activities across operating and related accounts, ensuring financial records remain accurate and current.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding variances with appropriate documentation.
  • Prepare and post journal entries tied to routine accounting activity, including accruals, bad debt, gross potential rent, and vacancy-related adjustments.
  • Apply and match cash receipts for housing authority payments to the appropriate tenant charges and ledger activity.
  • Reconcile a portfolio of operating accounts along with additional low-volume accounts, maintaining consistency across the general ledger.
  • Support the month-end close process and help complete required accounting entries within a 15-day close timeline.
  • Review account activity for accuracy and completeness, escalating unusual items and following through on corrective action as needed.
  • Use accounting systems and spreadsheets to track balances, analyze transactions, and maintain organized supporting records.
