Mondays to Fridays 40 hours per week SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs professional accounting activities which support the preparation, recordation, and reconciliation of accounting/business transactions.

Has Technical and Professional Expertise:
Has the technical skills, product knowledge and professional skills to do the job. Maintains accounting records to assure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and other special requirements. Perform month-end and year-end closing activities. Assists in maintaining the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers. Grant accounting including the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA). Accounting for Capital Projects including accruals. Accounting for business type activities. Accounting and financial reporting for leases. Prepares various federal and state agency reports. Ensures the maintenance of fixed asset records and prepares required reports. Contributes to the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Assists in monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Solves Problems & Analyzes Issues:
Has and applies problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical and interpersonal level. Determines validity and allocability of charges to various accounts and the adequacy of reserve amounts. Reviews and analyzes invoices related to capital expenses to determine compliance with GAAP for in terms of capital asset accounting. Analyzes transactions and prepares periodic reports of activity; computes mathematical and statistical data for various financial reports.

Contributes to the development and maintenance of accounting procedures. Prepares required schedules and assists independent auditors during the annual audit.
QUALIFICATION GUIDE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of three years of professional experience in accounting.
