We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for our Sacramento based client to support advanced accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role works closely with the Finance Director and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial data, improving processes, and supporting organizational efficiency. This direct hire position offers a primarily remote schedule, with hybrid work after training and occasional onsite meetings. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience as a senior accountant and strong GAAP.
Pay range:
$38 to $42 per hour (DOE) Key Responsibilities Lead core accounting operations, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-/year-end close in accordance with GAAP. Manage reconciliations for cash, receivables, payables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, investments, and accruals to ensure accuracy and compliance. Oversee AP/AR functions, ensuring timely processing, proper coding, documentation quality, and adherence to internal controls. Prepare grant billings, support funder and regulatory reporting, and assist with audits, tax filings, schedules, and required documentation. Support financial analysis, system enhancements, workflow improvements, and implementation of new accounting processes or tools. Maintain strong internal controls, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and provide guidance and functional oversight to accounting staff. Qualifications Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong capability with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software. Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and familiarity with nonprofit or grant accounting (preferred). Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, resolve discrepancies, and recommend improvements. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across departments. Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least five years of senior-level accounting experience.
