Job Description:
Our nonprofit client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to manage core financial operations, maintain accurate fund accounting, and support grant compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who enjoys mission-driven work and values a flexible, part-time schedule. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Nonprofit Accounting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards Manage the general ledger and track unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted net assets. Oversee fund accounting and ensure proper allocation of expenses across programs and grants. Lead month-end and year-end close processes. Support budget development and variance analysis. Grant & Contract Oversight Track grant revenues and expenses to ensure funder compliance. Prepare grant reimbursement reports and financial submissions. Partner with program teams to monitor spending and timelines. Day-to-Day Accounting Operations Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor relationships. Oversee payroll entries and liaise with payroll processors. Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation. Assist with preparation for the annual audit and Form 990. Compliance & Process Improvement Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies. Recommend system or process enhancements to improve efficiency. Serve as the primary financial contact for external auditors and CPA partners. Candidate Profile Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit experience. Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant tracking. Proficiency with nonprofit accounting systems (QuickBooks Online) Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
