This pivotal role involves managing complex financial operations within the construction sector, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in corporate and governmental accounting, along with advanced proficiency in financial software and accounting principles. As a senior team member, you will also mentor junior staff, foster continuous improvement, and contribute to strategic financial planning to support our growth and operational excellence. Duties Oversee and prepare detailed financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports tailored to construction projects Conduct comprehensive account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance using accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks Manage accounts payable and receivable processes ensuring timely payments and collections aligned with project timelines Perform budget analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling to support project planning and resource allocation Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations, and other relevant standards Prepare regulatory reports and support audits by providing detailed documentation and financial insights Review journal entries, accruals, and double-entry bookkeeping activities to maintain accurate financial records Assist in tax preparation processes leveraging tax experience related to construction and non-profit accounting where applicable Mentor junior accountants by sharing best practices in technical accounting, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance Skills Extensive knowledge of
GAAP, SOX
compliance, LIHTC regulations, and securities law as applicable to construction projects Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial management Expertise in governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices when relevant Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly through written reports Skilled in account reconciliation procedures including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation Experience with audit processes, regulatory reporting requirements, and internal controls implementation Excellent analytical skills with a focus on financial statement preparation and financial report writing Demonstrated mentoring capabilities with a focus on developing team members' technical skills in accounting principles and software tools High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, modeling, and report generation Join us to be part of a forward-thinking organization that values precision, innovation, and professional growth.
