Description Robert Half is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for our client in the biotech industry in San Diego, California. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience, month-end close expertise, and the ability to support financial reporting in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working cross-functionally to support accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules + Lead month-end and year-end close activities + Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts + Prepare financial statements and internal management reports + Perform variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting support + Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany transactions + Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset accounting + Support audit preparation and provide documentation for internal and external audits + Help ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies + Partner with finance and operational teams to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy Requirements Preferred Biotech Industry Experience:
+ Experience working in biotech, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated environments + Familiarity with project-based accounting, grant tracking, or R& D-related expenses is a plus + Exposure to inventory, manufacturing, or cost accounting processes is helpful depending on business operations Qualifications:
+ 3+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility + Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred + Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting + Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation + Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems + Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills + Strong attention to detail and communication abilities Preferred Skills:
