Our team partners with institutional lenders, life insurance companies, and credit unions to structure and close complex transactions across the Western United States. Position Summary The Staff Accountant is a key member of PSRS's finance and operations team, overseeing a broad range of accounting functions across multiple entities. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, discretion in handling sensitive financial information, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced commercial real estate environment. The Staff Accountant works closely with executive leadership, loan producers, and portfolio management staff and must bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Core Responsibilities General Accounting & Reporting Maintain working files for all accounts Assist in month-end/year-end close processes for multiple entities and annual audits Daily on-line monitoring of bank accounts Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and intercompany transactions Other basic accounting, reporting and auditing duties Accounts Payable & Receivable Process and code vendor invoices, manage approvals, and issue payments via ACH, wire, and check Monitor and reconcile Positive Pay exceptions across multiple bank accounts Track and process loan origination fees, referral fees, and closing proceeds Manage COBRA and employee benefit premium payments and recordkeeping in coordination with HR department Process annual 1099 filings. Loan Servicing Support Assist with collection of mortgage payments, deposits, and posting Coordinate with portfolio managers and loan administrators on loan-level accounting, including reserve accounts, ACH payment setups, and escrow disbursements Track wire activity related to loan fundings, closings, and fee collections Assist with remittance processing for institutional lender correspondents Vendor & Contract Management Manage relationships with third-party service providers (e.g., CoStar, Endsight, FedEx) Review and process subscription and service invoices; track contract terms and renewals Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, mortgage, or financial services Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word Experience with multi-entity accounting and bank reconciliations Preferred Experience in commercial real estate finance or mortgage banking Experience with accounting (e.g. MRI) and loan servicing software (e.g. FICS) is a plus Familiarity with institutional lender reporting requirements Exposure to Positive Pay systems and ACH/wire transfer processes Key Attributes High integrity and discretion with confidential financial information Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Effective communicator with cross-functional teams including producers, closers, and executive leadership PSRS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a competitive salary & benefits package.
Compensation for this role:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually depending on experience.
