JOB DESCRIPTION
: The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, executing assigned month-end close responsibilities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own assigned balance sheet accounts, including preparation, reconciliation, and variance analysis. Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals. Review GL accounts and prepare journal entries. Prepare financial reports and support schedules. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and schedules. Initiate banking transactions as part of the cash management functions. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances. Maintain accurate and organized financial records. Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows, including automation opportunities and control enhancements. Perform thoughtful budget variance analysis. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations. Execute assigned close responsibilities within defined monthly close timelines. Support directors with month-end and year- end closing activities. Other general accounting activities as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and two years' related experience required. Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis). Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet frequent deadlines while working in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
