Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a service-focused organization in San Diego, California. This Long-term Contract position will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to a smooth monthly close process. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in manufacturing-related accounting activities, strong spreadsheet skills, and the ability to manage detailed financial tasks with accuracy and independence.
Responsibilities:
  • Support monthly and year-end accounting activities by preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and helping complete close deadlines on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records through account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and timely correction of discrepancies.
  • Oversee inventory-related accounting tasks by tracking inventory movements, validating valuations, and assisting with the financial treatment of inventory transactions.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting by recording additions, monitoring depreciation, and keeping asset schedules current and accurate.
  • Prepare accruals and other adjusting entries to ensure financial statements reflect complete and accurate reporting periods.
  • Process credit memos and related documentation while coordinating with internal teams to resolve billing or transactional issues.
  • Assist with tax-related accounting support, including sales tax tracking, corporate tax documentation, and preparation of information needed for filings.
  • Contribute to reporting and operational accounting projects, including work within QAD and support for any accounting process updates tied to system or workflow changes. Requirements
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience, including work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
  • Experience handling inventory accounting and fixed asset records with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Familiarity with sales tax, corporate tax support, and documentation used in corporate tax return processes.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, organize schedules, and manage detailed financial information.
  • Working knowledge of QAD or similar accounting or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependable organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
