Job Description

Company Overview:
Schoolhouse Manufacturing is a fully integrated company specializing in design, manufacturing, repurposing, selling, and leasing of modular structures to clients in the educational, government, commercial, industrial, oil & gas, and other specialty markets. We continue to develop year over year because of our skilled personnel and solid financial foundation.
Description Summary:
The Staff Accountant performs a wide range of accounting activities that support daily operations and the monthly general ledger closing process. Responsibilities include preparing customer invoices, processing accounts payable, posting journal entries, and reconciling general ledger accounts. The position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Review vendor invoices for proper documentation, coding, and approvals prior to payment; Process check runs and ensure all required supporting documents are included; Assist with posting monthly accounts payable accrual entries; Respond to internal inquiries regarding purchase requisitions and invoice status; Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable sub‑ledgers; Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal personnel to resolve invoice or payment issues; Participate in month‑end close by preparing journal entries, expense accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations; Support the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors; Perform administrative duties including scanning, archiving, and verifying company documents; Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures; Perform other duties as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
Solid understanding of basic accounting concepts (debits/credits) and GAAP principles; Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and Word; Experience with computerized accounting systems and database‑driven software; Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; High attention to detail, organization, and deadline management; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively; Ability to provide support to internal customers via phone and email.
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Two to four years of accounting experience; Experience applying GAAP in an accounting environment; CPA certification (preferred but not required).
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
