Description Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant - Biotech Industry We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant to support our finance operations in a fast-paced biotech environment. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle AP process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. The ideal candidate has strong AP experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, Research & Development, and external vendors. Key Responsibilities + Process full-cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and posting to the general ledger + Manage high-volume invoice processing for vendors, clinical partners, CROs, and lab services + Perform 2-way and 3-way PO matching (purchase orders, receipts, and invoices) + Ensure accurate GL coding, cost center allocation, and project tracking (including R& D and clinical programs) + Process vendor payments including ACH, wire transfers, and check runs in accordance with payment terms + Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner + Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policy (e.g., Concur or similar systems) + Assist with month-end close, including AP accruals and reconciliations + Maintain prepaid expense schedules and support accrual accounting processes + Support audit requests by providing AP documentation and transaction support + Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and biotech industry regulatory standards + Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice or payment issues + Assist in process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements within AP workflows Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred + 2-5+ years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience (biotech or life sciences preferred) + Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and AP accounting principles + Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar + Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data reconciliation) + Experience with PO-based AP workflows and expense management systems (e.g., Concur, Coupa) + Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high transaction volume + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills + Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment + Familiarity with SOX compliance and audit support preferred Preferred Skills (Biotech Environment) + Experience handling R& D vendor invoices and clinical trial expenses + Exposure to CAPEX, lab supplies, and scientific procurement processes + Understanding of grant-funded or project-based accounting structures + Experience working in publicly traded or regulated companies Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
