Job Description

Position Purpose :
Assists in completing month-end and year-end closes, reconciles general ledger accounts and bank statements, prepares and distributes various financial and management reports and assists in various independent year-end audits and CPA tax return preparation. To supervise, direct and mentor the General Ledger Accountant. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the month-end and year-end close processes by performing bank and account reconciliation and analyses.
  • Manage the entry and reconciliation of all Fixed Assets, including but not limited to periodic inventory of assets.
  • Manage the monthly entry of credit card transactions.
  • Assist with independent (external) and internal audits by providing documentation, explanations, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to auditors ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide schedules for year-end audits, ad-hoc audits and tax return preparations.
  • Manage the annual Workers Compensation audit by providing records, supporting schedules and written communication as needed.
  • Manage the provision of ITR information i.e., Form 990/1099-MISC/1099-INT/1099-NEC
  • Assist in the annual submission of Minimum Wage Rate Adjustment workbook to the Department of Disability Services.
  • Assess the accuracy of entries related to the Regional Director's Account information submitted by individual Regional Directors and review the associated processes.
  • Supervise, direct and mentor the General Leger Accountant, including but not limited to reviewing their work for accuracy, timelines and completeness and conducting training sessions as needed.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and cost statements.
  • Assist with developments of internal control policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting
Mandated Abuse Reporter Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. Five years accounting experience, with solid general accounting knowledge and computer-based accounting experience necessary. Proficiency in Excel and WINDOWS required, knowledge of Accounting ERP and Microsoft Applications required. Detail oriented, problem-solver and self-motivated with strong organizational skills; excellent English verbal and written communication skills. SVS complies with Title VII and California's
