Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:
A Project Accountant serves as the financial liaison between the accounting department and project operations. Responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of specific projects-in construction, engineering, and architecture-to ensure they remain profitable and compliant. This role requires specialized knowledge of the construction industry's unique revenue recognition and billing practices.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities Project Accounting & Job Costing:
Set up and maintain detailed project cost records. Analyze job costs and generate project cost reports for management. Review project labor and expense charges with Project Managers. Prepare labor hours for uploading to construction software, Global Edge.
Billing & Accounts Receivable:
Prepare and review
AIA G702 & G703
progress billings. Manage client invoicing, collections, and payment tracking.
Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Management:
Process subcontractor and vendor invoices. Manage Preliminary notices, lien waivers, notices, and joint check processing. Verify and issue insurance certificates and bonds for subcontractors.
Compliance & Reporting:
Manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition. Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations. Assist in external audits and prepare monthly financial statements
Lien Laws:
Proficiency in California's specific preliminary notice and lien waiver processes is often mandatory.
Required Skills & Software Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of cost coding,purchase orders, and revenue recognition for long-term contracts.
Core Software:
Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
Experience:
3-5+ years in construction or project-based accounting.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; a CPA is often preferred for senior roles. Alliance Industrial Refrigeration is an equal opportunity employer (EOE).
