Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented professional to serve as an entry level Staff Accountant . The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will play an integral role in supporting the finance team, assisting with financial reports, and ensuring that all transactions are processed correctly in accordance with nonprofit accounting principles.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records
- Prepare general ledger entries and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliations.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and tax filings.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in various ad hoc financial projects and analysis as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and FASB requirements for nonprofits.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP, or Blackbaud systems.
- Knowledge of basic investment principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting.
- Pursuing or planning to pursue CPA or other relevant certifications, is a plus.
