The Forum Investment Group (FIG or Company) Controller will be an integral team member of the Company's Finance and Accounting Team. The FIG Controller will have primary responsibilities for a variety of accounting tasks related principally to the Company's investment management, registered investment advisor, real estate, and development entities. The FIG Controller will work proactively and collaboratively with the other members of the team, assisting with special or one-off projects as directed by the Supervisor. This position will also be responsible for having a strong understanding of the Company's financial software (Yardi) capabilities, and financial reporting for the Company. The FIG Controller will look for ways to utilize Yardi or other technologies and processes to streamline workflows. Essential Responsibilities:
Oversight of full General Ledger accounting for the Company's consolidated and other Special Purpose Entities (SPEs) as appropriate, including all monthly journal entries, creating/maintaining account analysis workpapers and reviewing bank reconciliations. Preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for management, and quarterly and yearly financial statements for external entities as required. Manage the annual audits for those entities and affiliates of FIG that are required, including preparation of financial statements and related footnotes, and coordination with the external auditors. Daily Cash Management, including a weekly analysis of cash on hand and immediate and longer-term cash needs. Management of the Company's accounts payable, expense reimbursement, chargeback, and fixed asset functions. Support the Company's regulatory, compliance and due diligence questionnaires required for the Company's registered investment advisors annually and otherwise as needed. Coordinate Accounting's role in closing all new direct real estate Acquisitions and Development properties, including funding wires, tracking all new equity contributions in our investor tracking system (Juniper Square) and coordinating with Investor Relations as necessary, reviewing draft settlement statements for reasonableness of all funds flows (including Forum reimbursements), and wiring equity funds. Manage provision of trial balances and other needed documentation to the Tax department in connection with FIG and affiliates annual tax returns. Responsible for processing all quarterly and periodic SPE distributions, including coordinating Asset Management on obtaining distributable amounts, entering all distributions into Juniper Square, submitting accurate and timely payment files to banks for processing, and following up/resolving all payment questions. Coordinate preparation of annual property tax filings. Responsible for Yardi system administration and oversight, including closing financial periods/years, setting up all new vendors, entities and GL accounts, executive report writing and setting up account trees, and testing for upgrades. Review SPE balance sheets post sale to track (and reconcile) all remaining cash balances and payments/receipts after closing, and to ensure balance sheet properly closed out. Understanding and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal control procedures, and practices. Perform other duties or projects assigned. Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience required, CPA a plus. Seven years plus prior accounting experience, including full general ledger accounting, and accounts payable/receivable experience. Strong preference for prior supervisory experience Strong skills in Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Prior investment management experience strongly preferred. Prior Real Estate industry experience strongly preferred. Fund Accounting preferred. Compensation Information:
Base salary range is $155,000 to $200,000. This range is estimated for this role; actual pay may be different.
