Job Description:
Position Overview This is a part-time 1099 contractor role with a modern finance firm that provides outsourced CFO services, full-service accounting, and financial technology support to small and mid-sized businesses. The accountant will work across a portfolio of clients, with initial focus on a multi-entity engagement in the trades and home services sector - a Colorado-based services platform operating across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and related trades. That structure involves a management entity, operating entities, a holding company, and a property entity, all connected through a Management Services Agreement. Additional client work will expand over time as the portfolio grows. This is not an entry-level position. The right candidate brings real accounting depth - not light bookkeeping - and can operate independently with senior oversight, manage competing priorities across clients, and communicate proactively without needing to be managed. No CPA is required. No public accounting background is required. Tax preparation is outside the scope of this role. Responsibilities Full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple clients and legal entities Transaction categorization in QuickBooks Online, including multi-entity configurations Accounts payable processing through Bill.com, including multi-entity workflows Accounts receivable oversight and aging management Intercompany transaction management and Management Services Agreement billing Payroll journal entries prepared from PEO reports Journal entries and month-end close procedures across multiple entities Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Coordination with client CPAs, legal counsel, and outside advisors as needed
Qualifications Required:
5 or more years of bookkeeping or staff accounting experience Strong QuickBooks Online proficiency, including multi-entity setup and management Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidation Working knowledge of cloud accounting tools such as Bill.com and Ramp Reliable communication habits and a track record of flagging issues proactively Available during standard business hours for communication and coordination Located in the Denver metro area or elsewhere in Colorado preferred; remote candidates outside Colorado will be considered
Preferred:
Accounting experience in construction, trades, or field services Familiarity with cost-plus billing or staffing company financial models Exposure to field service management platforms such as ServiceTitan, BuildOps, or Procore Sage Intacct experience or genuine interest in learning it PEO integration experience with ADP TotalSource or similar platforms Engagement Details 1099 contractor role, primarily remote Flexible scheduling; monthly close deadlines are firm Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
