- General Ledger and Accounts Receivable About the role: Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant
- General Ledger and Accounts Receivable will oversee all aspects of General Ledger activity and Accounts Receivable, playing a key role maintaining accurate financial records.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in nonprofit accounting principles and procedures. What this Role involves:
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate coding and documentation. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and schedules. Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, especially for AR and accrued revenue. Assist with audit preparation, including pulling support and documentation for GL entries. Support restricted and unrestricted fund accounting and grant reporting as needed.
Accounts Receivable Duties:
Prepare and issue invoices to funders, donors, and other stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor and manage AR aging, following up on outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies. Record incoming payments (checks, EFTs, donations) and allocate them appropriately in the accounting system. Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger monthly. Assist with donor/grant receipting and ensure compliance with funding agreements.
General Responsibilities:
Assist with the monthly and year-end closing processes. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
What we are looking for:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
Experience:
2+ years of experience working in GL accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector
Skills:
Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (NetSuite preferred) Strong understanding of GAAP, and accounts receivable principles and practices. Working knowledge of office management functions including strong computer and technology skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities independently Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Compensation:
