Job Description
Description Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with strong accounting fundamentals and a forward-looking interest in AI, automation, and data-driven finance operations. This role will support core accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance, while also helping improve processes through the use of AI tools, automation platforms, and analytics. This is a long term contract role that will be 12-18 months, possibly longer.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end close activities. + Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and assist with financial statement preparation. + Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement. + Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid accounting as needed. + Use AI-enabled tools and automation solutions to streamline routine accounting tasks and improve reporting efficiency. + Help monitor data quality, validate system outputs, and investigate anomalies identified through automated processes. + Partner with finance, IT, and business teams to enhance workflows, reporting dashboards, and data integrity. + Assist with audit support, internal controls documentation, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures. + Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to ERP systems, reporting tools, and finance transformation efforts. + Stay current on emerging trends in accounting technology, AI literacy, and automation tools relevant to finance operations. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 2+ years of accounting experience in corporate, public accounting, or similar environment. + Strong knowledge of GAAP, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes. + Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. + Familiarity with data analytics, reporting tools, or automation platforms is preferred. + Exposure to AI tools used for accounting workflows, anomaly detection, or data analysis is a plus. + Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
