Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description The North Colorado Health Alliance (NCHA) Staff Accountant plays a key role in accounts receivable, grant billing, and grant management, helping to ensure financial activity is recorded accurately. Ensuring billings are submitted timely, and grant records are maintained in compliance with funding requirements and organizational policies. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and recording grant, contract, and shared service billings in the accounting system, monitoring receivables, maintaining grant documentation, and preparing financial reports and dashboards to support compliance and decision-making. In this role, the Staff Accountant will work closely with the accounting team and serve as backup support to both the Accounting Assistant and Controller as needed. The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller. This is a full-time, hourly position. Primary Responsibilities Manage accounts receivable activities, including monitoring outstanding balances and follow up on aged receivables. Record check and ACH payments in the accounting system, as assigned. Prepare, process, and submit grant billings in accordance with grant agreements and funding requirements. Prepare, process, and submit contract and shared service billings in accordance with applicable agreements. Record billing activity in the accounting system. Support grant management activities by maintaining grant records, financial tracking, documentation, and compliance monitoring. Prepare grant budget dashboards and related financial reports. Prepare journal entries as assigned. Maintain accurate financial records related to grants, contracts, receivables, and other assigned accounting activities. Provide backup support for accounts payable, month-end tasks, and financial reporting functions as needed. Assists with end-of-month and fiscal year-end tasks including activities related to external financial audits such as preparing schedules, providing documentation, and answering questions as needed. Prepares year end adjusting entries as directed. Prepares annual 1099's. Assists with financial projections actual compared to budget. Assists in developing proformas. Assists Senior Accountant by performing analysis of staffing and operational expenses needed to prepare the organizational budget and other various budgets.
Periodic Duties:
  • Participates and attends department meetings, etc. as assigned.
  • Participates in staff problem solving groups.
  • Provide assistance as designated by executive leadership to support the overall goals of NCHA
  • Compliance with NCHA programs overall
  • Participation in ongoing performance improvement activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education or Formal Training Bachelor's degree in accounting required; and a minimum 3 years of accounting experience and training (or equivalent combination of education and experience); Health care and grant experience preferred. Working Environment Physical Activities This position works in an office setting and while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel and use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
