Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a media organization in Chester, New York. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating month-end activities, and contributing to reporting, compliance, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities effectively.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead key components of the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, reviewing financial activity, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Reconcile bank accounts regularly, investigate variances, and follow through on corrective actions to maintain accurate balances.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting by tracking depreciation and amortization schedules and recording the related entries.
  • Post recurring and adjusting entries for accruals and prepaid expenses to support accurate period-end reporting.
  • Maintain organized accounting schedules and supporting documentation for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Provide backup assistance for accounts receivable activities to help ensure continuity across the accounting function.
  • Prepare routine sales tax filings for New York and New Jersey in compliance with applicable reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to budget review efforts by compiling data, analyzing trends, and assisting with management reporting.
  • Support external and internal audit activities by gathering records, preparing schedules, and responding to information requests.
