Job Description

Job Description We are seeking an Accounting Consultant to support core accounting operations, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This individual will serve as a key contributor to our client's accounting team and must be capable of independently managing accounting processes from start to finish with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, possesses a strong general ledger accounting foundation, and thrives in an environment that requires ownership, analytical thinking, and a high degree of accuracy.
Location/Scope:
Chevy Chase, MD (On-site Mon-Wed), 6-12 month engagement
Key Responsibilities:
Support and manage project-based time tracking and related billing activities. Assist with billing operations and ensure accurate recording of transactions within the general ledger. Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure all balances are properly supported. Support month-end close activities, including preparation of close workbooks, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Work within a fast-paced accounting environment operating on a condensed 2.5-day month-end close timeline. Ensure transactions are properly allocated across approximately 20 separate funds and accurately reflected in the appropriate financial statements. Perform detailed financial analysis and reconciliation work using advanced Excel functionality Assist with first-level review of accounting work and supporting documentation prior to management review. Identify process improvements and proactively drive issues through resolution. Partner closely with accounting leadership while maintaining ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field prefered. CPA or CPA-track candidate prefered. Strong general ledger accounting and reconciliation experience. Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting processes. Advanced Excel skills required, including experience working with large data sets, reconciliations, Pivot Tables, lookups, and financial analysis. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities. Experience supporting month-end close in a fast-paced environment. Experience with fund accounting or multi-entity accounting environments is a plus. Workday experience strongly preferred.
