Senior Accountant Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's general accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, cash activity, accruals, and participation in the monthly close process. This role analyzes financial data and prepares reports to ensure accurate tracking of assets, liabilities, revenue, and other key financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. Reconcile restricted and unrestricted revenues and pledges between subsidiary systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge) and the general ledger. Review and validate transactions posted from subsidiary ledgers to ensure completeness and accuracy. Analyze and process revenue and pledge adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. Assist with month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries (accruals, depreciation, etc.). Complete and review cash reconciliations, including multi-system matching of bank deposits, cash batches, and general ledger activity. Investigate and resolve chargebacks and discrepancies, coordinating with internal teams as needed. Monitor outstanding receivables and pledges, following up to support timely collections. Cross-train on accounting functions to provide coverage and support during staff absences. Prepare schedules, reports, and ad hoc analyses as requested by leadership.
