To Apply for this Job Click Here Staff Accountant - Washington, DC Overview Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC in their search for a Staff Accountant to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting general accounting operations, including grant accounting, fund accounting, and financial reporting within a nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with nonprofit accounting processes and compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities Support day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close. Perform account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet accounts. Assist with grant and restricted fund accounting, including tracking expenditures and maintaining accurate funding records. Prepare grant billing, invoices, and financial reports in accordance with donor guidelines and deadlines. Monitor grant spending and assist with budget-to-actual analysis across multiple funding sources. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review and cash application. Assist with audit preparation, including gathering supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests. Prepare internal financial reports and assist with financial statement preparation. Collaborate with program and finance teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and compliance with funding requirements. Identify and support process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Nonprofit accounting experience required, including exposure to grant accounting and/or restricted funds. Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close processes required. Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Experience supporting audits and preparing financial documentation preferred. Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel required. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
