Staff Accountant

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have experience with non-profit accounting and strong organizational skills. Among other duties, the staff accountant will assist with daily/weekly transactions, monthly closings, account analysis and general administrative support as needed. Will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Director of Development to ensure fiscal excellence agency wide.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct the day-to-day accounting operations to assure enforcement of financial policies, proper internal controls and procedures.

Accounts Payable:

Process vendor invoices, track payment schedules, and ensure timely disbursement of funds. Maintain documentation and analysis for specific operational expenses.

Accounts Receivable:

Record donations and grant revenue, and ensure timely deposit of funds.

Payroll:

Process payroll and record transactions in the general ledger including the allocation of expenses to programs, administrative and other functions.

Reconciliations:

Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records monthly to maintain accurate financial reporting.

General Ledger:

Maintain the general ledger by recording all transactions accurately and promptly. Ensure verifiable audit trail for all financial transactions.

Fund accounting:

Manager all aspects of restricted donations including accounting, tracking, compliance and reporting. Full Job Description available for review upon request.
